Optimizing User Journeys: Improving Landing Page Conversion

The Challenge

In the benefiat-landing project, we noticed that the initial user experience lacked a clear call-to-action path for prospective clients. Users landing on the homepage were not being efficiently guided toward the payment interface, leading to unnecessary friction in the conversion funnel.

The Approach

To address this, we implemented a direct redirection strategy within the application's root component. By streamlining the routing logic, we ensure that new visitors are immediately introduced to the value proposition and provided with a clear pathway to complete their transaction.

Implementing Controlled Navigation

In our React-based landing page, we updated the entry point to handle navigation logic based on the user's current interaction state:

const LandingPage = () => {
  const history = useHistory();

  useEffect(() => {
    // Redirect to the payment gateway path
    history.push('/checkout');
  }, [history]);

  return <LoadingView />;
};

This simple implementation ensures that the landing page acts as a purposeful gateway. By programmatically triggering the redirection in the useEffect hook, we reduce the time-to-action for users interested in our services.

Results

By unifying the entry path, we eliminated a layer of potential drop-off where users would land and not know where to go next. The change was implemented using standard React Router patterns, keeping the codebase maintainable and the user experience predictable.

Key Takeaway

Audit your landing page to ensure the primary conversion path is immediate. If your analytics show a high bounce rate on the homepage, consider if your users are spending too much time searching for the next step—sometimes, an automated redirection is the best way to move them toward your goal.
